Laying out a kitchen in Revit

The classic starting point is the work triangle between sink, cooktop and refrigerator: keep each leg roughly between 1.2 and 2.7 metres so the kitchen works without becoming a corridor. Allow at least 1.0 m of clear aisle in a single-cook layout and around 1.2 m where two people pass, and remember an island needs that clearance on every side you intend to use. Complete kitchen sets are usually delivered as .rvt projects or grouped families, so decide early whether you want them as a Revit group — editable in one place across repeated apartment units — or exploded into individual components for unit-specific adjustments. Where the same kitchen repeats across dozens of units, groups are almost always the better call.

Parametric families expose width and depth parameters. For fixed-geometry sets, it is usually faster to reposition the individual units than to stretch the whole assembly.
