Working with arched doors and openings in Revit

The key decision is whether you need a door or an opening. A door family schedules, tags and carries a swing arc in plan; an arched opening is a passage with no leaf, and forcing one to behave like the other creates schedule noise later. Check the host wall thickness before loading: an arched family built for a 200 mm wall will show reveal geometry incorrectly in a thicker wall unless the family exposes wall closure as a parameter. Curved heads also interact with the wall’s cut pattern in plan views, so review the plan representation at your working detail level before committing to a family across the project. For repeated arcades, set the arch radius and springing height as type parameters so one family covers several openings rather than duplicating files.
