Clear opening and wall cavity: two things sliders get wrong

A sliding door’s nominal width is not its clear opening. On a single slider the leaf parks over the adjacent wall or inside the pocket, but on multi-panel glazed systems the stacked panels eat into the aperture, sometimes by half — so if the schedule needs a minimum clear width for accessibility, check the real figure rather than the panel dimension. Pocket doors bring the other trap: the cavity has to be at least as wide as the leaf and free of services, which means no switches, sockets or pipework in that stretch of wall. Coordinate this before the MEP model catches up, because it is expensive to discover on site. In plan, sliders have no swing arc, so the door symbol reads very differently from a hinged door — confirm the family’s plan representation matches the graphic standard your drawings use.
