Formats and Revit compatibility

Most items are .rfa loadable families you insert with Insert > Load Family. Larger sets ship as .rvt project files — open them alongside your model and copy-paste the components you need. Each download page lists the Revit version the file was saved in; remember that Revit upgrades older families automatically but cannot open files saved in a newer release.

Working with furniture families in Revit

Furniture is one of the fastest ways to inflate a model. A few practices that keep things manageable:

• Check the Revit category. Loose items belong to Furniture; modular workstation systems belong to Furniture Systems. Getting this right keeps your schedules and view filters clean.
• Match detail to purpose. Use high-detail geometry only for foreground renders and set coarse or medium representations for plan views.
• Add shared parameters before placing. Manufacturer, model and cost fields are far easier to fill in the family editor than across hundreds of instances.
• Purge unused. Run it after importing large furniture packs to drop nested types you never place.

Yes. Most files are free to download with a registered account. A Premium subscription removes limits and unlocks the full library.

Can I preview a family before downloading?
Yes. Many files can be inspected in the browser with our BIM Viewer — rotate the model and check the geometry without opening Revit.

Can I use them in commercial projects?
Yes. These are reference models for architectural and interior design work, not manufacturer-certified product data.
