Screen height and viewing distance
The usual rule is that the centre of the screen should sit near seated eye level, which puts it roughly 100 to 110 cm above finished floor for a standard sofa — noticeably lower than most people instinctively place it. Mounting a screen above a fireplace looks tidy in elevation and is uncomfortable to watch, which is worth raising with a client at design stage rather than after installation. Viewing distance is the other half: allow roughly 1.5 to 2.5 times the screen diagonal between sofa and panel, which often decides whether a room can take a 65-inch screen at all. Wall-hosted media units follow their wall through layout changes, while freestanding consoles do not, so pick the host type according to how settled the plan is.
